As you can see from the picture, the Peniston Athletic Club has added a new sport. Colleen is clearly getting an early jump on her Petanque skills. The soft sand surface, however, is better for their beach volleyball tournaments than Petanque. We'll see if her practice pays off when we have our tournament in France.

Petanque is a fun game that you can play fairly well without having much skill!! Playing in the sandy pit that was our street is quite different from what I imagine our tournament on some beautiful green lawn in France will be! I can't wait!!
I may be wrong about this, but your sandy boules court is closer to the real deal than a green lawn. I believe that petanque is most often played on a fine gravel surface.
Right you are, monsieur! I guess I was dreaming of a lush green area with a petanque terrain in the middle of it. You know the image...ladies in flowing dresses with hats, and the gentlemen with their berets all sipping wine, enjoying a picnic and playing boules!!!
Our tournament will probably not look like that, but it is a nice image, no?
