Winds of change

This is not Marjorie related, but right now Gustav is shaping up to be a really nasty storm and New Orleans and one of our Marjoriacs are in the way of its current projected path.

It's way early and this storm could fizzle or change direction between now and Labor Day, when it is expected to make landfall.

Fay was bad enough. We got a lot of much needed rain here in Alabama, but it caused a big ole tree to fall on Mike's house in Hoover. It's the one he's trying to sell. No major damage, but he's going to have to get some gutters replaced and a little other work done. I know that is a pain since he's an absentee owner and they've already completed the move to Lynchburg.

Pray for Colleen and all our other friends in the Crescent City.

We definitely will pray for Colleen and all of our friends and relatives along the gulf coast. My coworker is on her honeymoon in Jamaica this week - looks like it's just a rain event for them (hopefully).

I've heard from Colleen and she won't be evacuating this time, if an evacuation is ordered.

Her girls will head for the relative safety of her sister's place in Baton Rouge, but Colleen will "shelter in place" at Children's Hospital along with a bunch of doctors, cops and firemen. Hey, maybe she'll meet a cute one.

The latest advisory from the National Hurricane Center says that there is tremendous uncertainty about the forecast five days away from landfall.

In essence they're saying not to get too worked up about this storm just yet.

Here we go again!! The latest "cone" has south Louisiana somewhere in Gustav's path. See the chris rose article: http://blog.nola.com/chrisrose/
Important to factor in that the storm is still 2-3 days away, thus the "cone" can shift greatly!! We here on Peniston Street are all watching carefully, and taking the necessary steps to prepare for the worst. My girls are safe and will stay put until this blows over. On Monday I will take up residence at Children's hospital for the duration/aftermath. I will be in touch as best I can!!
Decadance Festival is in full swing....

Well it was quite an experience being at at the Hospital during the storm, but all good. They were well prepared and we all did well (patients and staff alike). I will volunteer again if IKE comes this way. Or Josephine...

Sisters in BR did OK, trees down but houses OK. Still no power, and none coming soon. Ken & Nina have a generator so are OK. Mom and Dad's place in Waveland did WELL and had power, so they left BR as soon as the roads were clear!!

NO is OK...we got power at the house Friday and Cable/internet today!! So all is good!!!
